Brandie Smith, LLMSW, is a compassionate and dedicated clinician with experience supporting individuals across the lifespan, from children to adults, in both inpatient and school-based settings. Currently serving as a psychotherapist on an adult inpatient behavioral health unit, Brandie works closely with individuals facing serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, and personality disorders. Her approach to therapy integrates elements of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She is also trained in advanced treatment and diagnosis of personality disorders, allowing her to provide nuanced and effective care to those with complex clinical needs.
Brandie’s earlier experience includes working as a mental health provider in the K–12 school system, where she supported students with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental delays—particularly those receiving special education services. She is deeply committed to helping clients navigate life’s challenges while emphasizing the importance of self-care. Outside of her clinical work, Brandie enjoys a peaceful life at home with her partner and their two dogs—Grace, a golden retriever, and Luna, a “dober dork” doberman. A lover of books and movies, she draws inspiration from her favorite author, Dr. Bruce Perry, and finds strength in Tolkien’s words: “Courage will now be your best defence against the storm that is at hand—that and such hope as I bring.”
